It is so, so important to encourage people to give feedback to their managers - that should never be a one way street. If the manager is growth- minded, it can help them recognize their own tendencies so they can work to combat them. Having the courage to speak up is a sign you care about your work - at the very least, you’ll know you tried. Sometimes it is 100% a matter of the boss being a rhymes-with-brass-pole, but more often it’s someone who’s also trying their best but has a few blind spots.
Solid list of tips. Most people (me included) jump straight to venting, but focussing on impact and solutions is what will allow people to navigate difficult bosses with their sanity intact.
I think venting is totally okay, too.. at times! That’s also part of the job of a leader… to listen and hear what’s actually going on for people. But obviously, when our boss is a bit trickier, we need to be more tactful.
A great reminder and strategies to have in place for difficult moments with your boss. You can’t control your boss, but you can control how you communicate with them, this is very essential.

I absolutely agree. Even better is when we embed 360 feedback reviews within the organization!

Yes! We are only in control of ourselves!
That's correct. That's very important to know that you can in fact decide, although for some it's a scary decision.
